Becky - My New Hat

I've been wanting to take a visit to the world of hat-wearing for a while now, but I have been a little scared. However, I finally went ahead and bought this cap on sale at Target. I'm still not sure what I think about it. It tends to look better with the brim pushed up from my face, but then the back of it sticks too far off of my head. It's like the back part is too "deep," so it would be better if I could fold it under a little bit. (I wonder if I can steam it and get it to stay creased in a different place.) Anyway, this is it. I actually wanted to get some better pictures with a better outfit, but I accidentally left it at my aunt's house. I'm not sure whether I would really wear it with a hood. That seems a little redundant to me, but sort of ironically cute at the same time. What do you think? Also, do you think this is the right hat for me in general? I think I still want to look for one in a different style, but I could use some more confidence to wear this one...

Becky - I'm Still Here...

Hello! Sorry for the lack of posting. It has been colder than usual here in Charleston, so I really haven't felt like doing anything for the past few weeks. I mostly haven't been in a state to be looked at either. My hair is in that awkward in-between stage (too long to be short, too short to be long, etc.). Also, it is still a challenge to get good self-portraits. But... here I am.
***
Today's outfit is (inadvertently) a cross between this one and this one. I wore it to try to shop for another floral a-line skirt (wear a skirt to shop for skirts, right?), but I found that this skirt is not good for strolling through semi-open outlet malls, as the wind picks it right up. If I had been in a better mood, I might have had some sexy Marilyn Monroe moments. As it was, I was struggling to get where I needed to go without completely embarrassing myself. Yeah, I only went in two stores and then went home.
***
Just to clarify, this sweater is navy, not black. I don't usually wear it all the way buttoned up. I realize that it gaps when I do this, but at least it gaps all the way down, not just in the bust. Actually, this sweater is great for experimenting with different buttonings. (See how I did it here.) If I can ever have a successful shopping trip, I'd like to find some more cardigans like this (but hopefully without the gap-i-ness).
  • Navy Cardigan - Thrifted
  • Navy Tee (Under Sweater) - GAP
  • Floral Skirt - Rue 21
  • Navy Textured Tights - JC Penny
  • Green Belt - Target
  • Green Shoes - Steve & Barry's
  • Green Bag - Target (Yeah, I like to be matchy...)

Becky - Flowers in Space

This jacket was a last minute addition. I wasn't quite sure about it at first, but then I actually got a lot of compliments on this outfit. The blue and silver clash somewhat, but maybe that's what makes it cool.
***
I don't often wear this jacket because the sleeves poof out and make my shoulders look really square, but I like how the poofy skirt balanced it here. Really, I think the shape of the outfit is what saved it for me. Otherwise, the odd juxtaposition of metallic sci-fi/Michael Jackson and pretty floral might have been too much. (Although, any time I can squeeze a little sci-fi into an outfit makes me happy.)
***
NOTE: The skirt is not quite as long as it looks in the pictures. Somehow the perspective on these is a little off.
  • Michael Jackson/space jacket - Wet Seal
  • Navy Shirt - American Eagle
  • Navy/White Floral Skirt - Rue 21
  • Blue Tights - Target
  • Silver Shoes - Cato Fashions

Becky - Last One (A Little Late)

I have to stop taking these pictures right before I go to bed and am all bleary-eyed...
***
This was my last shot for my Christmas-y sans-red-n-green challenge. I wore this the day after Christmas. The snowflake pin came in my stocking.
***
I hope everyone had a Happy New Year!
  • Black Shirt - Target
  • Lt. Blue Sweater - Thrifted
  • Jeans - Lee
  • Snowflake Pin - "Santa" (who apparently shops at Walmart...)
  • Black Ballet Flats - Gifted from Ann

Bekster - Blatant Attempt

First of all, MERRY CHRISTMAS!
***
Okay, this trying-to-look-Christmas-y-without-red-and-green challenge really has been a challenge. So, I stuck an ornament on a string and called it a necklace. Ha!
***
I really like how the gold on the top of the ornament "matches" the [faux] snakeskin shoes.

  • Navy Blue Cardigan - Thrifted
  • Jeans - Lee
  • Earrings - Don't remember

Becky - More of the Same

I still can't seem to get the festive thing right, but here is my second try. I thought maybe wintry blues and sparkly gems might do it. Also, yet AGAIN I end up with black and white. What's the deal? This is almost the same outfit as this one.
***
I'm not sure how I feel about these shoes with tights. I kinda like it, but I don't like what's going on in the toe area. (You know, they should make peeptoe stockings.)
  • White Shirt - New York & Company
  • Black Wrap Sweater - Thrifted
  • Lt. Blue Pencil Skirt - ?
  • Blue-Grey Tights - Target
  • Black Rhinestoned Heels - ?
  • Sparkly Earrings - Premier Jewelry (from one of those parties I really don't like where they try to sell you things. I only bought these earrings out of guilt.)
  • Purple Gem Necklace - Afterthoughts in the Mall (I wore this at my high school senior prom.)
  • Lt. Blue-Grey Coat - London Fog (Thrifted)
